Michelle always knew that she wanted a career focused on advocacy for vulnerable people.

Prior to her legal career, Michelle was a social worker in a geriatric hospital unit assisting elderly patients at times of crisis and physical vulnerability.  During her social work career, Michelle also worked for the John Howard Society, helping people with disabilities transition from incarceration into supported community housing.

Michelle joined a prominent personal injury firm as a summer student after her second year of law school. She then went on to article at the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee in Ontario where she continued to advocate for vulnerable and marginalized individuals, gaining experience in estates, family law and civil litigation. Michelle’s articling experience reinforced her passion for helping others while providing her with valuable insight into the unique legal challenges that adults with mental health issues face.

During law school, Michelle volunteered with the Windsor Community Legal Aid clinic assisting low income families with family law matters as well as assisting duty counsel in the Ontario Court of Justice. During her Masters of Social Work practicum at Vancouver Coastal Health, Michelle developed an informal policy guide to assist adult protection investigators within the health authority during investigations regarding vulnerable and at risk adults living in the community.

These experiences, and Michelle’s social work background enable her to approach legal problems in an understanding and practical way, while remaining cognizant of the personal nature of legal issues.

Michelle graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Windsor in 2016 and was called to the bar in 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of British Columbia and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Windsor. Michelle is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Ontario Bar Association. When she is not at the office, Michelle spends her time crafting, baking, hiking and playing soccer. She loves to travel, especially to destinations where she can scuba dive.
